A small zip tie or two would secure the add-on harness just fine. I plan to do that but didn't, it was raining and I was just testing the harness. Now that it has passed the test, I'll look at it and see if it needs any extra securing. As it is, it cannot be seen down there due to resting on top of the panel under the steering wheel. In my opinion - whatever that's worth - I'd say the length of wire is just right.

I agree, it was very easy to just put a twist and a loop in the wire and it stayed well out of the way. If it was much shorter I think it could get quite awkward given how tight the OEM harness is zip tied.

I may have missed it but after attaching the harness you turn on car to ACC mode then disconnect the brown wire?

yes. put the harness on, turn the car to ACC, make sure the wheel is unlocked and cut the brown wire.

You can actually pre-cut the wire on the harness and dress it appropriately. Just don't disconnect the stock harness connector until the car is in ACC mode and then plug it in.
