It says "Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service department." Hopefully someone can report back what Nissan actually do and based on that decide whether to still cut wire, install harness or pull fuse. Nissan might be doing the same thing for all we know. I do agree that if they are doing something to the steering lock itself to prevent it failing or replacing the steering locks, then I would still take one the preventative actions.

Gotta say I miss the sound of my Lock doing its thing, it just sounds to empty without it. haha

Just spoke to my dealer and the bros Z new part has been ordered, they confirmed the TSB. And I will be getting my $50 deductible on my extended warranty refunded. :tup |
I'm planning on taking mine in to have the unit replaced (anyone know what unit they're installing?) but still plan on leaving the harness disconnected because I don't trust them. I just want a future owner to have the correct piece and the option to trust Nissan's new fangled part if they want to.
Good plan? |

What can they say or do? The car is no longer under warranty anyway. Surely they can't not replace the part, can they?

I know there is someone who had cut the brown wire, and when they took it in for the recall, the dealer reconnected it :icon17: If you don't take off the harness, I would put money on them throwing it away without even telling you. They'll reconnect the ESCL regardless :ugh2:

I would remove the harness and allow the dealer to do what they do and then put the harness back afterwards. It is very easy I would probably remove it in the parking lot of the dealer just in case the steering lock decides to fail the day you are taking the car in. You could just reconnect the brown wire using the connectors but as someone else said they may not realize what it is and remote it.
I would re-install the harness afterwards because from what I've heard/read is the steering lock is still very similar and why take the risk of the new one failing. |
:iagree:

Got a recall notice today too woot!! I already pulled the fuse...dunno if I should even both.

Just been advised by Nissan Australia that they are doing the voluntary recall also. This is good news.
