Okay maybe not 500 but still... this may be able to go directly to the gtr...so it might be more profitable then he thinks. |

A harness needs to be under $100.00 Closer to $50 would be better. Otherwise when my warranty runs out I'll just cut the brown wire and live without the lock feature. If someone is going to steal the car they are going to get around the lock anyway.

This is the connector we need to make this go, the closest I have come is sourcing from outside the USA at the thousands of pieces to place an order.
Find some of these, the rest is fairly easy... http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...og/Connect.jpg |

I found what looked like a compatible part from another manufacturer but it had 16 pins instead of 8 (there are multiple versions with different pin counts from 4 to 40). I'm still researching but if anyone else wants to help dig I found the other one by searching for connectors under "025 series". Also look under "064 series" as that is the metric size. |

Bdl99 could probably help us he made all the other plug and play stuff members on here are using. He also started off in the gtr forums and came here second. So this would be right up his alley. I'm going to send him a pm with a link to see if he thinks he could help us all out!

As others have mentioned minimum order quantities are generally the issue. What sort of demand is there for this? I don't want to make a ton of money here but don't want to be stuck with thousands of connectors either. Would $50-70 be a reasonable price? I need to confirm the prices and qty of connectors before committing to that. That may seen expensive but the issue is the quantity, if we want 10K I can probably get it down to more like $5 |
FOR 50-70$ I would def. buy
|
Fvck it cut it up.:excited:

im in for that price.... as long as it isnt 150 or more lol im in

But I would purchase the connector also. My problem lies with no other person has done this to help me feel better about this isssue. I also wish the OP would post pics. |
I knew you could come through! Thanks yet again bdl99!!! I know this is going to be in high demand!

I know it doesn't matter, but what color are the other wires? Does anyone have a photo of the plug showing the wires? I know it is anal but I will make the extension harness with the same colors as the original if I know what color they are. The suggestion was 8-10in of wire between the plug and socket, with the brown wire there but will probably supply pre-cut. I will offer LMBmikeZ one of the first kits if he wants it because he was the one who contacted me, who else is in on $50 beta units? |
:happydance:And I happily accepted that offer!!!

Yes, exactly this.^^^ A mass order for plugs is a little premature, some testing/experimenting needs to be done first.

I will do the brown wire (pin 1) cut on Saturday to confirm Fritz's findings. |

I haven't placed a mass order for plugs, I have added a few connectors to an existing order. I'm going to make three and go from there. |

So is this the scenario if the dummy plug works?
Unlock steering wheel, unplug steering lock connector, put new dummy connector plug with brown pin disabled in between steering lock and current connector. Steering lock now set permanently unlocked. If so desired, you can return to stock setting by removing dummy plug and reconnecting steering lock with original connector. Nice and neat, no wires to cut |
I'm also in if it works
