Want shine like this? Meguiar's Gold Wax how to.
Supplies Needed
Meguiar's Gold Wax, should be around $12.99-$14.99 (depending on store) Microfiber cloths, or baby diapers Microfiber or terry cloth applicators "Why Meguiar's gold?" Because one of the best "buffers" I've seen worked on my car before I got it and I asked him how to maintain this finish, and he told me Meguiar's Gold because it has essential oils that are needed to make any finish stand out and to restore the essential oils in the clear coat! Firstly DO NOT apply this wax to a clear bra! How to apply Meguiars gold by Autopia For all other car wax and sealant products, follow these basic instructions: * Work in a shaded area out of direct sunlight an on a cool surface. * Use the applicator recommended or provided by the manufacture. If the manufacturer does not make a recommendation, use a foam applicator pad to apply your wax. * Work on one area at a time covering 2 to 4 square feet. * Follow the wax manufacturer's instructions on whether or not to allow the wax to dry (haze) before buffing. * Use a small amount of wax at a time, and rub it in well. If you use too much wax, you're wasting the product and your time. * If the wax residue does not buff off easily, switch to a clean microfiber towel or give the wax a little longer to finish curing. * Apply your wax in a back-and-forth motion, not in circles. If you are creating swirls, you need to replace your applicator or microfiber towels. |
I was told at the clear bra installation place that I could use any wax. I havent waxed my z yet but I bought the Meguiar's next Gen wax. Can I use that on the clear bra?
|

To be quite honest, that picture shows me nothing at all. Furthermore, thats got to be the most generic description of a wax job I have EVER seen. "Essential oils"? Circular motions? Do you WANT to give your paint swirls?
Sorry man, nothing personal, but you might want to do a bit more research before tossing up a how-to like this - if people follow yours, they'll just end up with swirls and scratches. There is SO much more to waxing a car than this... |

Join autopia and sit back and read up. There is a lot yet for you to learn, grasshoppa. |
You forgot, wax on with right hand. Wax off with left. Breathe in through nose. Breathe out mouth. Make a big circle. Don't forget to breathe. Breathing very important.

I apologize for the shitty DIY, I just have people comment on how shiny my car is, thats how I was taught to wax a car, but I would love to learn the "Correct" way
|
Well a great wax always starts with great prep.

I just PM-ed him this. It should be a sticky here.

Well started reading
He says as long as surface is clean it should not matter as long as its not abrasive to go in cirucular or up and down motions... "If you’re applying non-abrasive products, i.e. products that do not scratch or scour the finish, and your applying them with a soft, clean applicator and using good technique, then you should not be instilling any scratches or swirls no matter what direction you’re moving your hand. " |
Shouldnt, but even Gold wax is a mild abrasive.

If the wind blows, it allways blows crap onto my car while i am cleaning it.
If i was to do circular motions i would be rubbing this stuff into a circle motion onto my car. If your applicator picks up a piece of debri you didnt wash off and sticks and rubs it into a circle. Etc etc etc http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...wax-zaino.html and some of my results http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-p...ck-thread.html |
