Another DIY Ramp
1 Attachment(s)
My weekend project. I had a couple of 2x4s and a little plywood laying around from the workbench I built so I figured I'd put them to work.
Gives about 7" more clearance for simple front end work. Overall length is about 40". Custom ramp pitch to match the little spoiler in front of the front wheel. Haven't checked it out ou the rear wheels but I'm guessing there's more clearance on that end. Yes, I know I split the wood. Was just cranking it out and didn't bother pre-drilling the holes for the screws. |
I think you need to re-enforce it a bit more... I wouldn't want to be under the car on that... otherwise the design looks tight, just add more support!
|
No way would I crawl under that car. Thats just scary looking. Please add some support.
|
omg that reminds me of JENGA.
except you're playing with your LIFE man! :eekdance: |
LOL, really you think 4 2x4s spannin 10 inches can't support over 1500 lbs?
Everything else is in compression except for the plywood at the start. |
hahaha... i would even get under that car!
|
Well it doesnt help that those same 2x4s that are split are sitting like an inch on the base 2x4s...:shakes head:
It would definetly be safer to use 2x12s atleast and stager them on top of each other till you reach the angle and height you wants. Safety First. Not a sermon, just a thought. |
Don't want to break my back carrying them around either...
Just ran the numbers and looks like the FOS is about 5 on the top span. Bet those plastic ramps aren't even that good. The Jenga Master. :tiphat: |
