You should be paranoid. The fuse location is earlier in the thread. Search this thread for "fuse" and it'll be one of the earliest results.

I know this is probably a dumb question but I have to ask. Should I be worries even though I don't lock my steering wheel? I barely have 25k miles should I take it to the dealer and ask if they can replace it? Any clue if there was a recall for these? Should I pull the wire even though the car still has warranty?

It's an automatic lock. If your steering wheel is not locking when you turn the car off then you either: don't have an ESCL, or yours has already been disabled, or you got lucky and yours failed in the fully unlocked position.

There is a TSB (similar to a recall but not considered as serious) out for the ESCL on earlier model 370Zs. Call your dealer and/or look through the info at the link in my sig to see if you are covered under the TSB. I don't know how warranty affects TSBs.

I recommend that you disable the ESCL, even if you have a Rev D. I pulled the fuse but there are other methods (see link in sig for links to DIYs).

Alright guys so I gave a call to the nissan dealership that is 30 mins away from my house, brought up the recall, they asked for my VIN, told me my car was on recall, they had model D in stock, told me to take the car so they could replace it, they had the car ready in 3 hrs and they even gave me a free maintenance check. Pretty badass guys at the service department. Gonna double check the new steering lock if it's model D, ya never know

I'm pretty sure there is a recall for this now. I brought mine in for some work and they said they went ahead and replaced the steering lock because it was under a recall (even though I had just had it replaced a few months earlier when it failed - thankfully I got reimbursed for that).

there is a recall on the steering locks, but it appears it does not cover all the model years that came with the steering locks yet.

best that you guys either cut the brown wire or pull the fuse (while the car is in the ON position) while your locks are still working. otherwise you can risk getting stranded.

dont be scared, it's an easy fix.

Well just got my Call from Rachel from Nissan in good ole Tennessee
PH 615-725-7592
FAX 615-967-2326

this is how the conversation went: Dear Mr. Wagner this phone call is being recorded for... I said "I hope it is"..
She then explained that I was correct in that this was for a voluntary recall of the steering lock solenoid that failed. I explained that "I'm on the online forums with over 100K members and this thing has blown up
over a few years." I told her "I traded in my Z in soon after the issue and along when another electrical issue popped up,, (A high pitched noise coming from the NAVI.. That's a story all on its own.)
I also explained to her the I was looking into a 2015 Nismo and how this is handle will directly effect the purchase and relationship I have with Nissan // Infiniti.
she stated the their Warranty/ Claims Dept we are looking at your case for reimbursement of $887.37 + $121.10 Tow Bill for the steering lock solenoid.
We have on file your service bill (which I never sent to anyone). She then asked for me to send over the tow bill as it was part of my gripe.

Please fax the bill for the tow fee. to 615-967-2326
I said no prob. - I hang up... she call sback in 2 min and then asks they also will need proof of ownership as the payout is large amount.
I told her no prob as I have the (from 3 years ago) NY REG, the lease trade in, insurance paperwork and all bills.

- I'll keep you posted - and Many thanks to all who are part of this post and help the Z community

- This is going way to smooth and quick....
