sounds good, but that's the problem with this steering lock. it seems to be intermittent.. but if it happened to you once, it will probably happen again.

some folks here had their car towed but when the dealer received the car it started up fine. (like your case). while that's great (less towing fees) that does not explain what caused the failure.

another guy had his car towed, mis-diagnosed as the IPDM failure by the dealer, then 5-6 days later the same problem re-ocurred and re-towed and i think his dealer finally decided to replace the steering lock.

on the threads a while ago, we were originally thinking this was an IPDM failure, but it seems to be caused by the steering lock.

LOL! if you look at the parts list (click the illustration) it shows JF00D.

if you get JF00B just send them back telling them you want JF00D (or atleast JF00C). i am PRETTY SURE they wont have any more JF00B's in-stock as it's been discontinued for a while and also known as a bad part.

there *might* be a interium-revision within RevB as mine's shaped like RevC but JF00B. i dont know if the shape has anything to do with the improvement or not since it was explained in the GTR recall to be an oiling problem inside the unit. the lock in my car was not having any issues..but didnt feel like taking my chance so replaced it.

you dont necessary need to buy the new screws if you want to source your own. you can pull out one from your car to see which size metric screw to buy locally.

Excellent write up! +rep

I'm going to pick one up and even if I don't get to swapping it out right away I'm going to carry it with me on the racing trailer. I have a 2008 build date so definitely one of the original faulty parts.

2009 Nismo here, with a build date of July 09 I believe. Just checked the part number, looks like I have "JF00C". I'm assuming the previous owner ran into this problem and had it replaced. So does anyone know if it has been confirmed that JF00A and JF00B are the only mechanisms that have failed? Has any "C" or "D" versions failed?

This thread made me go out and look and unfortantly I have the B. Now I dont know if I should replace it or just wait for it to fail and then shell out the money. But thanks for the DIY it makes it easier to know where to kick the %%%% out of when it does fail LOL.

10/08 build date. I have JF00A... Yup, mine's dead. New one ordered from CourtesyParts...

And since I tried the "disconnect the battery" to try and reset it the calibration on my windows is hosed so now every time I open the door my window goes down another inch and won't go back up...

Not good as we're expecting rain...

Anyone know how to put the window back up when you get no power from the ignition?

Roll them all the way down and continue to hold down for a few seconds. Then roll them all the way up and hold up a few more seconds. Done.

He can't get them to go up or down because he can't get accessory power due to the steering lock malfunction.

I would try disconnecting the steering lock harness connector and see where that gets you.

Until nissan officially announces I don't know for sure but from the GTR forums they were using RevC to fix the issue. I'm scratching my head why there are 2 versions within RevC and why my RevB looks like RevC. There might be 2 manufacturers...but I'm ready to replace mine in the field if necessary.

Haha, np. Yah just tap the thing from underneath I guess with a small hammer. Lol

Sucks. Hope you get your part soon. As mentioned above try even tapping the unit if you have access to a hammer and flashlight. Worst case cover the car..
