I have three Nissans so this was very attractive to me!

If I can find a deal on oil filters like I did for the crush washers I might just buy 50.The washers come out at $0.24 each, an equivalent deal on oil filters would be like $1.00 each.

How many parts in the motor are actually made with magnetic metals?

I would think lots of rotational parts.

At 33k miles, the car has developed a leak, where the oil cooler meets the block.. I would ned to drain the new oil and replace it all for a 4 dollar gasket. I'm thinking of putting in a new gasket at every oil change..any thoughts?

I work at a quick lube place. I change oil on 370s and g37s all the time. You definitely don't need to take the whole skid plate off.

Great write up, but just take those four bolts off with a drill using a 10mm there's four of them and the skid plate has a fold in it. Just use some vice grips or a clamp to hold up the flap.

I'm not sure why ak said to take the whole thing off it's a nightmare to do so.

I've changed over a couple thousand cars' oil and have never seen a filter magnet... This is interesting.

I am debating whether or not to get Nissan genuine oil or redline. My shop will give me a hookup on redline but does anyone think I should be running Nissan genuine?

Are you referring to the undercarriage shroud? If so, it's 14 bolts to unscrew and will take you an extra 2 minutes to take off/put back on.

I personally like to see what the underside is looking like, given that I only change the oil twice a year.

Yeah, its not hard, just start the reinstall with the three push tabs to hold it in place. Hes talking about just undoing the bolts towards the rear of the shroud instead of taking the whole thing off. Its like a flap that you can fold down to access the drain plug and filter.

Changed my oil about a week ago and this thread certainly had a lot of helpful information. Redline seems to be the preferred oil and I see a lot of purolator one for the filter. The pepboys near me was going out of business (50% off everything) so I got the last purolator one and purolator boss filters. Anyone have experience with the purolator boss filters?
