DIY: Oil Cooler (scratch built install, lottsa pics).....>.

I believe this is the 2nd reported issue? Definitely makes me a little worried, has anyone who had issues try contacting Aeroquip to see what they say?

Yeah, 2 cases in the past week or two....This appears to be unusual...Maybe a bad run of hose or some other reason. The socketless fittings do not have a history of failure if you search. This is the second, from the same source. Maybe they have hose mislabeled (AN12 instead of AN10 or somesuch). At this point I would recommend clamping for additional security. Mine has been problem free for 3500 miles. I'll be pulling the pan this week for an oil change and will take a look...

Do you know what hose Racer Parts Wholesale sent you? I received FC598 and per Aeroquip's spec sheet this is not socketless and requires a crimp. FC598 requires a crimp fitting. And FC332 is the correct socketless hose. I'm going to email RPW right now and see what they say.

edit n/m... found these two threads and FC598 seems to be the correct hose:

Aeroquip Socketless Hose - It is real! - Team Camaro Tech
Mine is the 598 also and according to the aeroquipt guy in the above post, that is the correct hose.

Did you lube the inside of the hose when you assembled it? (I did). Wondering if this is a variable in breaking the inner liner. Regardless, I think clamping is now the way to go on these..
I'll source smooth band clamps from http://www.mcmaster.com and update the original post with pics when I get this done..

From those threads sounds like FC598 works but FC332 is better? I might have found a local source for Fc332 going to look into that. Be interested in what kind of clamps you find.

No I didn't use lube and it seemed to go in pretty easily, wasn't that hard to push it in.
