Kenwood DNX9140 Illumination to dim with instruments?

Has anyone successfully installed the illumination setup for Kenwood HU to work with 2009 Nismo 370z instruments? I tried setting it up in three different methods. None of them worked.

Default Kenwood DNX9140 Illumination to dim with instruments?

Has anyone successfully installed the illumination setup for Kenwood HU to work with 2009 Nismo 370z instruments?

I tried setting it up in three different methods. None of them worked.

First, I connected illumination wire on Kenwood DNX9140 HU (orange/white) to Scosche harness adapter and this harness adapter connects to factory harness adapter (illumination wire basically connected to pin 9 on factory harness adapter). I then set the dimmer to "SYNC" in Kenwood HU setup. This method didnt work.

Second setup, I also hooked up the illumination wire straight to pin 8 (white wire) on factory harness adapter. So both pin 8 and pin 9 on factory harness adapter connected to illumination wire from HU. It didnt work also.

Lastly, I just disconnected (cut off) the orange wire from scosche adapter so that pin 9 is not connected to illumination wire and only pin 8 is. This wasn't successfully either.

Anyone has any idea on how to get it working properly? Thanks much!

My metra harness works just fine with my kenwood headunit. Metra only supplies one wire for illumination ( pin 9 ), which is then connected to the kenwood illumination wire. Try removing pin 8 from the scosche harness.

Your setup is the same as my first one. There's no pin 8 on the scosche harness. It's just empty.

Did you ever figure this out? What you said here conflicts on what happened here:

Can't get head unit to dim with instruments
