REQUEST: Front Bumper Removal
Hey guys,
I'm buying the Stillen Cold Air Intakes and I know the front bumper needs to be removed. I've seen it only takes 10-15 minutes to remove but I'm no body shop guy and would love to have some help. Any chance someone could take a couple of pictures or post a simple walkthrough on where all the bolts are and the easiest way to do it? It would be greatly appreciated. I have the Sport Package by the way... I think there is a extra few bolts for the front spoiler? Thanks again |

Semtex's thread has some good install pics, but not specifically of the bolt locations for removing the bumper. It's pretty obvious really, and the service manual (it's on these forums, free PDF download) probably shows all the bolts too.
Basically, there's the 6 bolts along the front edge of the plastic cover under the engine bay (there are 10 others on the other edges if you wanted to remove the whole thing, like for an oil change), then one more bolt on each side slightly further out from those front 6, just behind the corner of the spoiler. Then you need to remove the innermost of the 3 bolts on each of the little mini-spoilers in front of the front tires. Remove all the plastic clip-thingies along the top between the radiator and the bumper (two rows of them, which should allow you to remove the strip of plastic that sits between the radiator and bumper). Finally, remove one plastic clip-thingy from each front wheel well liner (the one close to the front outer edge), pry that open away from the bumper, and then hold it open near the top to reach one more bolt underneath there that goes upwards into the upper corner of the bumper. After that, you can basically pull on the bumper near the headlights and unsnap it and it will come free. |

It definitely *can* be done flat on the ground. I didn't use ramps when I installed my intakes. But you will find it easier to see and remove the bolts on the underside on ramps, especially if it's your first time.

I'll try to do a step by step DYI with pics when I remove the front fascia to install my oil cooler. Might not be for a couple of weeks tho.

Did you look at the Service Manual link provided above?
