Request: Aero Jacket Install
I have an Aero Jacket carbon fiber lip, side blades and rear spats coming this weekend and don't know how to install them. The kit didn't include any 3m tape, screw, or instructions or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the front, I recommend removing the bumper and fitting the lip after propping the bumper face up on a couple of sawhorses. Be especially careful with the lip, as the CF gelcoat is prone to cracking if you bend the lip too much. Bend the bumper around the lip rather than the lip around the bumper. I used three pieces of 3m tape- one on each side of the bumper and one in the middle to affix the lip. I also used two screws on each side of the lip. For the sides, just unbolt the stock pieces and pull. There will be tape holding it on up top. Reinstallation is the reverse. Fitment on the passenger side was pretty bad but I was able to squeeze it on. Drivers side was pretty good. Use the stock body pieces for reference when it comes to drilling. There may also be some very small indentations on your new kit that shows where the screws may go. I can take some pictures if you need of my installed kit if you need. |

Thanks for the help. I didnt get the aerojacket skirts. I got the skinny ones that go under the stock sideskirt. This will probably sound stupid but, do you put the tape on then try to fit the bumper to the lip or try to fit it first without the tape?

Ah, gotcha. Good call with the skirts- I almost went with the side addon blades but ended up going the other way.
With the tape, I tried it a couple of ways. I've actually had two front lips- both of them a Sunline replica. The first was the Aerosync. I put the tape on after fitting the lip. Kinda pulled at the lip a bit and shoved the tape in there, then screwed it in. It worked so well that the lip flew off at about 90 miles an hour on the interstate and shattered into a bunch of really pretty red fiberglass pieces that looked great flying in the air behind the car. So, I then bought the Shine replica. Perfect fit. I put the tape on the bumper beforehand and fit the lip using the sawhorse method above. I was able to kinda fit the lip on so that when I was ready I was able to push it down on the tape and have it stick. It's tricky to get the lip on without brushing the tape but it can be done. I also suggest using a drill to drill out a pilot hole rather than just straight up using self-tapping screws- i find it's a lot easier on the fiberglass. |
