I had some spare wood, and I am tired of jacking up the car, so I decided to make some ramps...
The biggest challenge is determining the angle that the ramps need to be. after some trial and error here is what I came up with. This applies to a 370 Touring Sport wih the chin spoiler and stock suspension. The critical part: For 12 inches of distance the rise should be no more than 3 inches in height. about 12* If you are using a 2 x 6 measure out about 30 inches, draw a line corner to corner and that is your angle..with a little room to spare. I used OSB sheating for the ramp covering. This will be supported by 2 x 6s cut on the 3 on 12 angle. I added supports between the ramp side to add lateral stability and add strngth to the OSB as the car applied weight to the ramps. YOU WILL NEED to add these no matter what you use for the ramp surface. If you are going to use a 2 x 10 as the ramp surface you will need to cut that same angle on the end of the board. My circular say only goes to 45 degrees so that wasnt happening for me. I will be using 2 x 10 for the plateau the car will rest on once at the top of the ramp. this 2x 10 will sit on top of 2 x 6s giving me 7 inches of lift.. A 2 x 6 is actually about 1.5 x 5.5 same as with a 2 x 10 1.5 x 9.5.. Use long wood screws not nails! Anyay take a look at the pics and if you think it is worthy add some rep : ) more pics to come as I finish the ramps.
