I noticed a ton of people saying they had issues with removing the drivers side handle due to the hard to reach screw... Solution is don't remove that screw! Remove the hex head screw on the door.
So in short 2 bolts for both handles drivers side remove hex head screw on door that is the only difference...

I'm at the point where I'm needing to disconnect the blue harness. Do I need to pull the entire harness free from the door frame first before disconnecting? I can barely get my hands in there and just wondering if it can come off the frame first so i can unplug the harness easier.

Well after messing with it for some time, I was able to get it loose from the frame. However disconnecting the harness is another issue. Having lots of trouble trying to unplug. I tried to remove the screws, that hold the back plate for the electronic push button lock, but basically started to strip them as an alternate to disconnecting the harness. Feel like I'm destroying my thumb trying to push the square tab down to release the harness. Anyone have any tips or tricks to release?

Thanks for the suggestion. After messing with it for a while I was able to release the harness on the driver side. The thought of going through the same on the passenger side was frustrating. I luckily was able to call my wife out who was able to put her smaller hands in there and release the harness and made short work of the passenger side.

Hey guys/girls
I need to know the name and size of the sleeve that these two 4m screws sit in. I was doing this last night and had to call a buddy over cuz these two screws were being particularly nasty on the driver's side. We ended up stripping one, drill bitting and extracting them...long story short, one was salvageable, one was not...I know from these threads that the screws are 4m and should be carried at a Home Depot or similar store, but nobody can advise what the sleeve that the screw sits in is called, or where I can find one. I'd love an answer ASAP, as I'm having these painted in the AM and I'd love to reinstall right away. Thanks!!

I belive they were 4MM X 1/4 inch. Just go to the hardware store you can get stainless for half the price and not have to wait for Nissan to waste. Hours of your life finding out what screws they are and 1 week to order/receive.
If anyone stripped them like I did I took a hacksaw and made a straight line across then simply used a flathead and they came out.

I think I got a little carried away with my door handle paint project!
I also used tape rolled up (sticky side out) to help ensure I didn't drop the screws inside the door! Worked Great! |
