Request: DIY Oil Change
Yes...Yes...I know...how simple. But every car is a little different.
I havn't been under vehicle yet....so was wondering if there is a DIY out yet. Just a small explanation as to tools and such before I do the oil change would be very helpful. |

Suggestion. This request should have been posted in the DIY section.
DIY Section (Do-It-Yourself) - Nissan 370Z Forum If you send a PM to AK370Z and ask him to move your post over, he'll be able to do that. You'll probably get better results there. Oh, and I haven't done my first oil change yet, otherwise I'd do a quick write-up for you.

MA, section of the service manual, page 24. Sorry, I have no idea how to copy and post that!

I just changed my oil myself today and it was pretty standard. Only thing different was removing the plastic cover. There are 3 plastic clips in the center I couldn't figure out how to remove it for a couple minutes. :/

I changed mine a few weekends ago. the engine splash shield has 20 screws and 3 plastic fasteners. i was able to get enough clearance by putting the front wheels up on small ramps similar to rhinoramps. once the splash shield is off the plug and filter are very easily accessible. easy car to do an oil change on, even if the 10,000,000 screws in the spash shield takes forever.

If you download one of Golex's pdf files of the workshop manual (not the owner's manual), hosted on Scribd, it'll tell you all you need to know.
Here it is... MA <------- Click The file in the link is 'MA', the 'general maintenance' section. Once again, thanks to Golex

How come for outside of the US they recommend an oil change interval of 6000 miles but in the US they recommend 3750? Are they trying to say that we are too hard on our cars over here?

They also only have 1 maintenance schedule outside of the US, while we have two.

You're supposed to replace the washer every time you change your oil.

There is a drain plug gasket, but molamann should be safe until his next change, and he experiences no oil leakage. The BEST aspect that can see from the exploded view is that using an oil evacuator should pose no problem as the schematics show a straight run; if this is true, this is great news!
