Painting Lip Kits DIY?
I'm thinking of purchasing the BOMEX Lip with Carbon Fiber Center.
Has anyone used this company for paint? 2009 Nissan 370z Touch Up Paint Colors Aerosol Spray Paint? or should I just invest in a small spray gun and buy actual paint? I was thinking of just purchasing the Aerosol since I will only be painting the end portions of the kit since the center is already carbon fiber. Also if someone has purchased from automotivetouchup.com is their paint quality close to OEM? How many coats of paint? How many clear coats? |

It cost me $200 to get my cf/ fiberglass lip painted. I think a pro will do a much better job matching the color but also removing any imperfections on the lip.

true that! alot of times lips come in with areas that need to be sanded down, spot bondo'ed, etc. if you want to go cheap you can do that yourself (spot bondo's sold at autoparts stores, get a soft squeegee/applicator too) but somtimes easier to get it professionally prep'ed and painted.

Yeah that's it - what a novel name for it. I wonder how they came up with it?

Appreciate the info on the pros and cons with DIY and Professional....just think it sucks that a freakin' lip cost just as much as paintin an entire bumper professionally but then again the BOMEX lip cost just as much as gettin a full bumper from other brands....lol oh well gotta pay to play...

I bought a spoiler online for my brother's Eclipse because it was vandalized. The spray paint cost me about $20 shipped from touchuppaintonline.com and got primer, clearcoat, and sandpaper from NAPA. Everything together only cost me $40 and the paint matched perfectly. And you don't need a spray gun, I found that the spray cans worked really well. Just do 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear.

the rattle cans do okay given that it's done on a hot day (85F+) where the pressure inside the can is high and the piece you are painting is not too big.
it's also good to use 2-3 cans and rotate them as soon as you notice the can getting cold (lower pressure = inconsistent mist = looks like you did it at home. ). |
