Help! I can't get that shift knob off...

My dealer had said to hold onto the shifter itself and then unscrew the knob so i did. Just pulled up the shift boot cover, placed a set of rubber

Just pulled up the shift boot cover, placed a set of rubber griped locking pliers around the shifter shaft. Then unscrewed the shift knob by hand. Some are tighter i guess? idk.
