Credit card will work great also

SwissCheese 09-08-2014 10:21 PM

So where is the cheapest place to get one of these GT-R buttons nowadays?

SwissCheese 09-09-2014 09:03 PM

Well, I couldn't wait any longer and just ordered one off of Amazon for $36 (plus $6 for shipping). Now it just needs to hurry up and get here!

Just finished installing my GT-R ignition switch and the 2015 nismo red ignition cover on my 2014 nismo! Looks awesome and such an easy job! I also installed interior led lights and clear lenses from the GT-R as well. Thanks to the DIY forum!

Here are the part numbers for my above post.

I like the red ignition cover. I'll probably install one as well. I just ordered my GT-R ignition switch yesterday.

It took about 2 weeks to get the red ignition cover since it is a fairly new part (for '15 and newer Nismo's), but worth the wait I believe!!!

I can wait 2 weeks. lol I had to wait almost 2 months to get my Swift lowering springs because the manufacturer was out of stock. They finally came in last Saturday, and I installed them and I love it. I can definitely tell a difference.

Just did this swap a few days ago
Super easy mod took less than 5 min
I used a credit card

Gerg 08-12-2015 12:25 PM

Add this to the list of one more mod bandwagon that I've jumped on. Install took less than 2 min (and part of that was me taping up the tip of the screwdriver so as not to scratch the leather).

That red is pretty.

Puke 08-27-2015 03:33 AM

Thank you so much from a newbie. You made this mod an easy deal for someone like me who was not familiar with our new 370z.
Thanks again,
James (Puke)

is it less bright than the factory one?

Puke 08-27-2015 04:58 AM

The entire button lights up on the original button so it is brighter, the new one still shows start and stop but is nit illuminated like the original button. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to install mine today. The stock
Button is hard to remove. I tried with a credit card but no luck. I can get in there but then how do you pull it out? I also tried with one of those plastic tools but I don't want to damage or scratch around it.

Help.

You need to squeeze the silver tabs after you disconnect the connector.

They are about 11:00 and 5:00 o'clock

:iagree:

Pay close attention to the tab location in the photos Post #322 in this thread. That's where you need to apply the pressure.

No prob. You posted right as I was getting on.

Daniel123588 03-06-2016 06:57 PM

thank you but they don't offer free shipping to HI, its $23.... ebays often the same with majority of sellers.

Hate living here in Oahu sometimes especially with automotive related things.

xdragus 03-08-2016 06:36 PM

Anyone tried spray painting the chrome/silver ring to a matte black?

Edit: nvm found someone that did :)

Daniel123588 03-11-2016 04:47 PM

Just FYI. Scott (race shop at Fontana USA) was able to give me a better shipping rate after I reached out to him directly. Thanks Scott!

Please do not take apart the dash... I did this in literally 1 minute and 34 seconds using only my drivers license while taking pics...

I finally got around to installing the GT-R start button. Super quick and easy. Thanks all for the great idea and the DIY steps.

StormWhite 02-20-2019 04:50 AM

Mine arrived today (UK) having ordered from Japan (On Amazon UK) because it was cheapest although it took a little longer to arrive.

Fitted in ten minutes using OP's original method

Looking great but looking forward to tonight to see the illuminated switch.

Many thanks to the OP for the original write up.:tiphat:
