Why is it always the LAST *@#$& BOLT!?!
I started removing my cat's to install the Berk high flow cat's., Everything was going fine, only had one knuckle banger. Then the last bolt strips. Not the head, the threads. Its the upper bolt on the driver side. Couldn't have been one of the nuts where i could just try to remove the stud, nope. The bolt came half way out before it stripped so now I cant even put it back together.
So here I am, car in pieces, and a bolt that will not come out. Nothing I have tried has made it better. I am half trying to vent and half hoping someone has a solution that I haven't thought of. |

Well, I've come to the unfortunate realization that this bolt will have to be cut. I am now using a sawzall blade with the end wrapped in duct tape so that I can use the blade by hand. This is going to take a LONG time.
Guess the grass isn't getting cut today. |

Is there room to use a dremel with a cut-off wheel attached? That's worked for me before in tight spots.

SUCCESS!!!
Yes I used PB blaster. I put the car on jack stands last night and drenched all of the bolts. This top bolt is harder to spray then the others so maybe I didn't get it good enough. I cut it half way then just broke it off Here is my home made hand saw.. The tape on the back of my hand was there because it was so tight in there I was wearing the skin off. This helped Last edited by Dembflyr; 04-20-2010 at 04:01 PM. |

I could barely fit my hand up there so I doubt that a dremel would have fit. It took about 45 minutes to get through half of it so some type of motorized device would've been nice. Now I know why it has been referred to as the "Demon Bolt".
Oh and If anyone else feels like attempting the HFC install just remove the intake boxes and hoses. It only takes a few minutes and it opens up so much more room to get at the bolts. |

A dremel should fit. You might have to tape it to a stick but it would fit down in there. Always good to have just in case!
