Anyone use a o2 sensor socket to remove the sensor vs. a regular 22mm wrench? I don't have either but I'm thinking of picking this up. Just seeing if anyone has experience with it. It's also the same one Autozone rents out, but for the price I rather just buy it keep it in my garage. Going to need to remove this down the road anyways.

The O2 sensor socket with a 3/8th square hole on the side works well on the 370Z. It costs $4 at harbor freight an $8 at the local auto parts store. You could probably get by with a crescent wrench as my sensors did not take much effort to remove.

This writeup was an enormous help, I cannot thank you enough! I had plenty of trouble with the bolts even though my car still has 100 miles on it. I shot out to Harbor Freight and grabbed a breaker bar and somemore extensions to get the bolts through the engine bay. Well, the 'breaker' bar did the trick:
![]() WD40 was used, I could have saved myself some frustration if I was paying attention to which direction I was pulling (lefty loosy righty tighty) but they all came out after some choice expletives.

This would have been awesome if you had rehosted a couple weeks ago! I went off of your written instructions and successfully completed my install, not hard if you take your time and have the right tools in my opinion.

Just did this mod tonight. I HIGHLY recommend using 1/2" drive ratchet and extensions for the two ft of extensions for the top bitch bolts. It was like day and night trying to use the 3/8's compared to the 1/2". Do not use an impact because there is to much energy wasted through the extension's. PB Blaster is the **** too (let it soak in for a while too). If you have a nismo with the H-pipe like my self you shouldn't have to unbolt the rest of the exhaust like mentioned. If I had to do this again I would recommend buying new gaskets for the Y/H-pipe as well. I really enjoy wrenching on cars and this product is not a bad DIY project if you use the right tools.

Thanks for writeup
Just did this today >> the cost >>1 broken universal joint and two broken extensions, couple of busted knuckles, cuts and about a gallon of lube. Broke all those tools on one stud that wouldnt move but finally broke free with a 4 foot breaker bar. |
