Oil Cooler - Lines Routing/Keeping Stock
Trying to determine which route is better, easier, or what-have-yah, what is the most common route people took (or planning on taking) when installing the oil lines? So far, it looks like we have 2 routes:
1. Modshack's way 2. Vipor's way -- Cutting a square hole through the radiator bracket. Which way did installers take? Easier? Harder? I just want to supplement the existing install-threads. Thanks Last edited by cab83_750; 04-09-2010 at 07:54 PM. |

Sorry for the late contribution, but I took a different route. Since I used SS lines AN10, both Modshack and vapors way seem a little tight for our liking. We decided to go over the swaybar with 2 45" elbows, one would then wrap around the driver side while the other one would go to the passenger side. It would then cross over and go back into a 90 and into the oil cooler

I had found and read Modshack's DIY prior to installing mine. I hadn't come across Vipor's though. Vipor: that's a great way to route the lines (through a square hole in the radiator mount)!
In my install, the lines coming from the sandwich plate are located above the oil filter. I did this for 4 reasons: 1) I wasn't sure there was enough clearance with the lines hanging below to clear the underbody tray, 2) I didn't want the lines to come too close (rub) or interfere with the front sway bar, 3) I wanted some extra space to access the oil filter for oil changes (and didn't want to spend too much time cleaning the lines during oil changes), and 4) gravity will sort of help drain the SS lines during oil changes because the lines are higher than the opening for the oil filter. Also, I was able to find a different way to route both lines along the passenger side (compared to Vipor's). But similar to Vipor, I was able to mount the oil cooler without having to move the power steering cooler, as suggested in Stillen's instructions...therefore having only to do half the work. Check here for more details, if you wish: DIY: Stillen 19 Row Oil Cooler Install - driver side (stock PS cooler unmoved)

Easy mounting option
Don't have to worry about clearance issues on mounting bracket or radiator cross member Won't have any difference in oil cooler performance.
