370Z Cabin Air Filter
Doing some research on cabin air filters for the 370z, I discovered Fram's Fresh Breeze brand does not have an official offering for the 370z. I gave them a call and they said their computer shows it's in development for the 370z, but it's unknown if and when they may have on available on the market. They could not give me an existing product they recommended as nearly the correct dimensions.
Almost the only part listed on Amazon as fitting the 370z is the ATP RA-141 which comes in two flavors, one which is a normal paper filter (CF-246 @ $25.84), and a premium activated charcoal type for around $15.70 + tax and shipping, the dimension are 12.7 x 11.2 x 1.5 inches. Curiosly, the non-charcoal white paper type was about $10 more expensive. Another brand listed is a Beck Arnley 042-2206, 2.5 x 8.2 x 11.8 inches $27.13. I ordered the ATP charcoal type which should arrive tomorrow and will see how well it fits maybe this weekend. It's difficult to say at this point if the activated carbon is really any good at eating diesel exhaust fumes or other nasty smells over the normal white paper type. But with these prices, the more elaborate charcoal type is much less epensive than their paper cousins. Watching some varying youtube videos on the subject, it appears the luxury car's are the ones with the more elaborate designs. They often employ two or more filters in the system, usually a paper type in the front end, and a more elaborate and thick charcoal type past the fan for more ordor elimination. I'm unable to find the dimensions of the Nissan OEM B7277-1EA0B filter part for comparison. The Fram CF10157 mentioned in the first part of this thread has dimensions of 9.8 x 0.9 x 9 which seems quite different than the offering listed as officially compatible with the 370z. Update 12/30: I disassembled the glove box which wasn't too difficult and discovered the OEM Nissan cabin filter in my 2014 370z already appears to have activated carbon in the media. Nissan apparently changed their part some time ago and included carbon in the newer part number. The ATP I purchased from Amazon looks nearly identical to the OEM. The main reason to purchase an ATP may simply be the price, but it's not likely their is much difference in performance between the two. I can't say I notice any difference with the ATP over the OEM Nissan in odor control as some odors can still enter the cabin. For example, driving through an neighborhood where someone is operating their fireplace, and/or diesel fumes from a truck ahead of you. The OEM filter had a few spiders in the media and some dirt, but was in good shape (only 2,200 miles on the car). |
I just removed the cabin air filter to check the dimensions. A few people on this thread have reported that they have used either the Fram CF10157 or the CF10140, and that they both fit. I am confused because their dimensions are different (significantly, in the case of the CF10140) from the OEM filter based on the info I found at framcatalog.com. Do these Fram filters actually fit properly?
Nissan OEM (27277 1EA0B): 7.875" W X 8.5" L X .75" H Fram CF10157: 8.59" W X 8.87" L X .79" H Fram CF10140: 7.88" W X 10.72" L X 1.18" H Also, as Z Ninja pointed out, the OEM filter in the 2014 models has charcoal embedded in it; it is not white. Do the 2010-2012 models have white filters? |
the one i posted is the one that's in my Z. no issues with fitment on my 2009.
|
Like i said and i post in the pics... I use the STP and the fitment its perfect... an the answer of the white filter on the 09-13 is yes... my Z is from 2013 and have a white filter ;)

If you were not using one of there, you are trying to stick a square peg in a round hole, my friend! Any of these will work. I used the charcoal CF10140 with no problem. Go to page one or two on this subject to make sure of your insertion orientation, ok? Good Luck! STP: CAF1766 Purolator: C35479 WIX: 24883 Fram: CF10157 :hello: |
DIY: Adding In-Cabin air filter to the 370Z
I used the Fram CF10157. It's not the same size as the oem, but I found if it is turned sideways you can cram it in there. Next year I'll try the STP model
On a side note, for those with the musty smell coming from the vents, try pouring a 20% solution of bleach and water down the windshield before you wash your car Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Ok, so just to be clear, when I said 'turn it sideways', that's 90*
:) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Thank you for this DIY. Finally my allergies wont be going ape sh!t while im in my car. Additionally, I also used the Fram CF 10157 and i had to really cram it in there. It worked but im sure there is a filter that is better suited for our cars.

I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this, but I found the Purolator: C35479 at Advance Auto Parts and the thing was HUGE. It was like twice the size that it should have been. (didn't buy it BTW :icon14:)
Anyone else run into this? |

Change 370Z Cabin Air Filter
I just did my 2012 370z coupe cabin filter and want to add a couple useful details: First, there are exactly 7 screws (and multiple clips that help align things). There are are 4 obvious screws across the top and 2 less obvious screws in the lower corners. The 7th screw is visible way back behind the tray on the upper right and is accessible either with a long Philips or, better yet, by working with the swing out glovebox to lift the 2 lower back hinges off their mates and angulating it so the "stops" clear out of their side holes. Second, the filter itself is behind a white cover door which opens by gently pulling on the latch on the right and sliding the hatch to the right so that a tab on the left side slides out of its slot. Remove the dirty filter and replace so "Nissan" is showing right side up, then slightly lift the filter as you close the hatch so that it remains elevated by the little angulated tabs on the bottom side of the hatch facing the filter. Pretty easy to reassemble all (helps if remove the retractor clip on the left of the tray and put all screws in then put it back on). It was a bit tricky to get the hinges to engage but seemed to help to get tray a little high then press down. Beats paying the dealer $80.

Removing glove box
After removing all seven screws, how much force is required to remove the glove box? I'm having trouble getting my glove box out.
|
Make sure you are pulling at the right angle. It requires a bit of force but not too much. I know that's not terribly helpful. I'm always worried that I'm going to break something, too. But at the right angle it should just pop out without too much effort.
|
Thanks for the reply! I am completely worried about breaking it and it does help.
|
kinda like tugging at a 5yr old to take away his teddy bear kind of tug.
not the kind of tugging u'd do like at a fat middle aged woman taking away her big jar of cookies she's getting ready to pay at check-out. :ugh: |

:icon17: the latter can result in crushed ballz too.. :ugh2:

Man this thing is killing me. Pulling up on the door at the corners...tried pushing up from the bottom of the door. Pulling up from different angles using the corners of the glove box door as indicated with red circles. Pulling up from the corners with the door open a little, about half way, all the way... Thing won't budge. I have definitely removed all 7 screws. Eventually i will get sick of it enough to break at which point I don't doubt it will come out. I'm just still in the "trying not to break it" phase.
|
After you've gotten out all of the screws, pull straight back. Give it a quick yank.
Make sure you're pulling straight back. If you just try to "pull" it back, you're going to struggle. Quick yank and the pain will go away. (No comment Kenchan!!!) |
Ok. I will try straight back. Thanks!
|
Any luck?
|
It's been raining here so I havn't tried yet. Will today tho. The Z is my daily driver and I just left the glove box screws out until I get the box out and replace the filter. Glove box operates normally with all the screws removed which is weird.
|
Hopefully you could test it soon... We are anxious to know its result and performance. Keep us updated.
|
As everyone said here, pull while holding the spots circled in red.
Just give it a quick tug, the faster you do it the better. ( It took me like 10 mins of gently tugging at it before I gave up and gave it a quick yank .. ) |
Thanks for the help gentlemen. A quick jerk and that thing came right off. Filter changed and glove box back in place.
|
Glad to hear it!
|
That is Very good Thanks.

Sorry about bumping this, but too funny... |
Great job with the DIY. Bunch of cool peeps on here. This site or group has really answered so many questions a manual won't answer, and let's not even talk about some of the dealerships. they get real creative with some of their answers and OEW PRICES! Yes, I'm one of those that reads everything in the car manual but the safety part , I don't totally ignore it but let's just say I breeze through that. Hopefully this will help someone that needs a cabin air filter for the 370 Z at a really cheap price right now. Wal-Mart right now has the Purolator: C35479 for 6.79 free shipping. Yes free shipping. Of course I bought two. Thanks again for the DIY.
