Lift height needed to drop auto trans pan ?

Plan to do an auto trans service. Does anyone know if 6" high ramps will provide enough room to drop the pan or do I need to use jack stands and get the car up higher ?

I have one set of stands and I am debating buying a set of ramps or buying another set of stands to do the work.
