3D printed battery tray for Odyssey PC680
3 Attachment(s)
Based on the reviews here, I decided to buy a PC 680 battery.
Once I had it installed, it was clear that it doesnt fit the existing battery compartment well. I was worried about the smaller battery moving around, and couldnt find an online solution that I was happy with. Then it hit me, print one! I measured the existing nest and the new battery, and then created a drawing. Next my guy Dave, modeled some concepts and we printed the one that we liked best. |
Very nice. Functional and well executed
I bet there are a number of people who would be interested in a product like this. |
Thank you!
It is very light, strong but flexible. Works perfect with the factory hold down strap installed inverted. |
What material did you use?

PLA ploylactic acid
Its perfect for this application IMO. Some of variants we modeled below: |
My 10 year old battery just died, and I think I'll be ordering a PC680 instead of a lithium. Just can't justify that price bump.
Would you be willing share the STL or even just the X/Y offset you ended up using to center the battery? |
Very cool idea!!!!!

PM your email addy and I will send the STL file.

Can you make it for other small batteries as well?
|
Thanks SG! Do you happen to have the dimensions of the bottom nest?
I ended up buying Antigravity ATX-12 HD RS instead because I found it wasn't too expensive for a lithium. It cranked the Z right up :) Ended up designing my own adapter based off the stock battery size and I stole your idea of using zero top/bottom layers and only having infill. Saved me a ton of filament and made the infill .9mm wide. (triangle pattern). I can also make a few designs for others to adapt small batteries to the stock battery size, with a top piece and a bottom piece. Just need to know LxWxH. Main issues I had were realizing that bottom nest is several cms larger than the stock battery, |
Sorry for the late post! My phone has crashed twice and I ve been really busy.
The base is 10.25” x 6.75”. Hope that helps! |

I also designed and printed an upper hold down for the PC680 battery in the 370Z.
It is two piece, top with the three ribs and bottom that locates the battery. |

Here is the hold down installed with factory hardware.
Very rigid set up, very pleased with the strength of the material. It would be stronger if I glued the top and bottom of the hold down together, which I havent yet, seems plenty good at this point. |
If anyone wants all the .stl files just send a PM.
If someone wants the parts printed as shown, I can do that, just PM for pricing. Sorry, I dont have time for any custom designs. |
