I created a thread on MyG37 about this, specifically on the rear timing cover, How to inspect your cam tensioner shoes (VQ35DE shoes are a direct fit at 1/4 of the price)
As well as removing the burnt oil from the internals.

After further research, newer superceeded gaskets were the way to go for me. Newer gaskets are no longer the paper ones utilized in older models.
Showed how to time your cam gears if you even go as in depth as I did.
