Where to put the fire extinguisher?
Hi guys
Going to try out track soon and was told i need to have a fire extinguisher bolted in via metal bracket. Just wondering where some of you have installed yours in the 370z? Couldn't find any examples. |

Maybe behind the passenger seat? It will end up blocking that little pop out storage unit, but if you do not use it.

Interesting they want you to have a fire extinguisher. If it were up to me, I'd rather have my car burn completely than have to restore any fire damage. I'm going to have to search Youtube cus I have no idea how a tiny fire extinguisher would ever save a driver while trying to get out of a car. My bro's corvette just went up in flames and the little pony extinguisher didn't even put a dent in the fire.

many regions of nasa this year are getting strict about TT folks using fire suppression... in prior years the rule was not strictly enforced... still not required for "driver's ed" but as you move up need to equip w/ either extinguisher or full suppression kit
as for where to mount, when I use to drive a boxster, I used brey-krause, which had a good selection of mounts that fastened to the bottom of the passenger seat and so required no drilling... you might be able to find or fabricate something similar |

Center mounted to the cross support bar works, using velcro or quick release stainless steel bands.
Painting the extinguisher black or aluminum to match the interior gives it a good look as well.

Agreed...The Walmart variety a definate no-no.
I've used 2" industrial Velcro brand polyester mushroom or palm hook, used primarily in military or aerospace applications. This stuff has amazing sheer strength and is intended for limited separations.

I use it too... but for stuff attached to my panel that weighs < 1 lb... even if you are careful to brace at angles that limit movement against foreseeable high-g impact, I wouldn't trust it... imagine several pounds of fire extinguisher coming at you at 50+ mph in an impact... helmet may not be enough... let's put this one to rest

Hmmm.....Upon further reflection, I'll concede to your wisdom on this.
Kids, don't use Velcro.
