AC Lines Not Securing?
 

so my ac in my Z went out about a year ago in the hottest portion of the year and i finally got around to replacing them myself 3 days ago. i followed the DIY here on the forum and everything seemed to work out fine. At the time i was working at Toyota/Hyundai so i drove it to work and got a free recharge. however, in the middle of the recharge, the high pressure AC line came apart and this green fluid(from the recharge) went everywhere. i put them back together and tried again. drove home later that day started putting my front bumper back on. and it happened again when i started my car. any idea of what may have happened? the line seems to be secure but it obviously isnt. could it be a faulty line or just user error? any help is appreciated

these are the best shots i could get. from the looks of it, everything seems to be fine. cant pull anything apart by hand

Looks OK to me but I'm no expert.

I'd check the connections for dirt and/or damage before buying new lines.

They're supposed to be locked in by a spring, when you reattached them did you see a circular spring inside the female end? Sometimes when they blow, the spring goes out with it and you've gotta search your under tray for them. Secondly when you push the male side in, the spring has to eclipse over the nipple of the male pipe so it locks in, if not it'll probably blow again when you repressurize the system.

I just had this same problem...but on a different line ( close to the firewall). I just had the condenser replaced so I'm wondering if the people that charged it did something wrong

thankfully mine stayed in there although i didnt do anything different from the time before. i guess if was luck

Do I need a special tool to connect them back?

to reconnect, all i could find was that the lines are supposed to click back together. no info on a specific tool that keeps them in place. but to disconnect, you need a quick disconnect tool from oreileys or autozone etc.

I took it to a shop and they said the spring that is inside was missing...lol...not sure where it went...but I had to get a new hose connection...smdh
