Exclamation Replacing OEM Door Speakers & Tweeters

Hey guys,

I bought some Kicker 6.5's for my doors that will drop in fine with new mounting holes drilled, but I had one question. I've got the speaker grills off for the tweeters, but the fosgates I bought say I need to splice into the wiring for the tweeters.

It has been YEARS since I worked on car audio. When I pull these tweeters off and undo the wires connected to it, am I just looking to splice directly into those after cutting the connectors?

I couldnt find this question with the appropriate answer using the search function, so I am sorry if this has been asked multiple times.

Thanks!

that depends.. did your fosgate tweeters come with crossovers? are they inline, or mounted to the tweeter.

Yup yup.. If the speaker set came with a crossover, you will run you amp -/+ into the corssover then into the respective driver/tweeter. If the set did not come with a crossover, I would tie them directly into the 6.5'' driver terminals and be done with it. However, most decent speakers come with a crossover or bass blocker or something to sire to the tweeters.
