Default Fuel guage not working

My fuel gauge decided to stop working altogether. My Z is out of warranty, so I was wondering if anyone who's come across this problem has fixed it themselves. If there's a thread out there that already covers this (with pictures) would anyone be able to direct me to it.

I've changed a fuel pump on a 2g DSM before but I noticed in the Z manual that there is a main and sub fuel level sensor. I need to know which one needs changing and more importantly how to get to it. Thank you

I might suggest talking to Phunk on the forum, he has done some great work with the fuel system on our car & might be able to point you in the right direction.

There are several threads on fuel pumps and level sensors that should be a big help. Download the FSM and use a multimeter to check the level sending units and wiring.

I recently had both of my sensors replaced under warranty. Pricey fix if you have the dealer do it. I can relay the costs to you later if you like.

thanks guys. I looked up the part online. cheapest I've found it so far is $99 new. I'll try hitting up Phunk to see if he knows of a place where I can find it cheaper.

I've had to get to my pre filter in the past to clean...the pump is easy to get to, just takes some time, it's under the plastic panels behind the passenger seat under the carpeted tray, but you'll need to get all the plastic out of the way to access all the bolts.
