I'd say it lasts at least 6 months.
I apply a coat or two in April-May and then again in October-November and I always use a proper car wash soap like Mothers or Meguiars, so I never notice a reduction in the shine or protection.

It's extremely easy to apply.
Strip the old wax off with Dawn. Clay if you feel necessary. This is a good time to address any buffing or touch-up work. I like to apply the product by hand with a padded microfiber applicator. Allow to dry to a haze. I like to remove the product using my orbital. Go over the car with a microfiber cloth to pick up any leftover dust and use a detailing toothbrush around cracks and seams.
Park it in the sun and let it bake in. Put another coat on next weekend.
