WOW! I did not know that!! Great and useable info. Thanks Alexus.

Thanks for the info and advice. I see what ya'll mean about the microfiber wash mitts holding dirt... I have white microfiber mitts, so i see the dirt immediately and then spray it off with a hose. Next Investment: new wash mitts!

After washing my vehicle this weekend, I got rid of the last of the wax/sealant. Water beads up very nice, though i still get water spots when it rains. I can deal with that. Thanks again!

Talking Hey NXTAZEE!

hi! I am a firm believer in asking someone a question who has experience in the field. I just bought the Wolfgang kit from autogeek-have a new 370Zroadster in black cherry. I was going to work on it soon-dealer told me to wax it when ever I wanted-
Any tips? I am going to do the two bucket/sheepskin mitt like you said-microfiber to dry? I am pretty much a novice since someone else usually washed /waxed my 350. Thanks!

What kit did you buy? Yes use the two bucket wash system or a foam gun and a rinse bucket, which is my personal favorite. Clean bugs and bird droppings of the paint ASAP so they don't etch into the clear. Seal up the paint frequently,as most waxes and sealants only provide good protection for about a month, depending on the weather and how often you wash the vehicle. Clean your rims weekly and use a rim sealant to protect them. Brake dust is highly corrosive and will damage the clear coat on the rims. Oh and one more thing, enjoy your new ride as it is one awesome machine.

I have used the Mothers California Gold 3-step products, and also their wheel cleaner.

Wash with their car wash soap, then do step 1, which is the cleaner that takes everything off the paint, then step 2 which is the polish and sealer, then step 3 which is the liquid yellow carnauba wax.

It's EASY to use, and is user friendly as it goes on very easy and seems to really get applied to the paint very well and evenly, and buffs off very easily and completely without leaving any "residue" that you have to go back over to completely remove it, and the depth and shine is great.

I know there are other products that are rated better, but to answer your question, I would not consider Mothers products to be inferior by any means. And for the price, which can be half of that of the more expensive lines, you get just about the same end product as the much more expensive lines.

You can wax the hood and front twice for a tad more protection if you want.

You may have to polish and wax the car more often with Mothers than with some of the other more expensive lines that have waxes that last longer, but for the end look, you can't go wrong with Mothers.

thank you so much-I appreciate your time to write back. I got the concours kit-sealant,polish and auto bath. It says to let the sealant sit for 12 hours without rain or dew-so I will wait for clear cool day and start in the morning.I do not have a garage but I did buy a cover for the car.

Wow! What a phenominal thread...You guys have no idea what I've been doing to my cars. Thanks for the info. Any product for getting magnesium chloride stains/residue off of polished aluminum rims (ProCOMP)? Mag chloride is what they use on the roads in CO during the winter (instead of salt)

Carnuba doesn't last real long, but the paint sealant does, so I get the best of both worlds by layering the Carnuba over the Paint Sealant.

Check out Autogeek.net for info. That's where I bought my products, just watch for specials or sign up for vip specials. The site has lots of help info on various products to educate yourself. Good luck.

I'm still waiting on my Z, have a vin# and supposed to be here any day now.
I subscibe to autogeek.com as well and am a fan of the Wolfgang product line. Now, I did not wax over the sealant because it looked pretty w/o. Would it be better in the Southern heat to wax or no? Melting.....

Wax melting shouldn't be an issue.

I've been using Liquid Glass for about 20 years now. I've tried some other products but I always go back to Liquid Glass.
It's easy to apply and gives an amazing shine on any colour car and the protection is long lasting. It doesn't make black parts white. I've used it on wheels and even put it on windows, and motorcycle helmets.

Here's my car today after a second application of Liquid Glass:

How hard is Liquid Glass to apply? I read their website and it sounds like something cool to try. How long does it last for you?

I'd say it lasts at least 6 months.
I apply a coat or two in April-May and then again in October-November and I always use a proper car wash soap like Mothers or Meguiars, so I never notice a reduction in the shine or protection.

It's extremely easy to apply.
Strip the old wax off with Dawn. Clay if you feel necessary. This is a good time to address any buffing or touch-up work. I like to apply the product by hand with a padded microfiber applicator. Allow to dry to a haze. I like to remove the product using my orbital. Go over the car with a microfiber cloth to pick up any leftover dust and use a detailing toothbrush around cracks and seams.
Park it in the sun and let it bake in. Put another coat on next weekend.

I highly recommend the wolfgang product line they are excellent products. I use the paint sealant 3.0 and it works great. Just be sure to prep the car well and use their polish that comes with the kit. Wolfgangs polish is actualy a menzerna product thats made for wolfgang to their specifications and menzerna polishes are one of the best. Great products. As far as drying the vehicle I usualy use an air blower and I use a microfiber towel to get the little the air blower leaves behind.
