Junkman's Water Restricted Washing Regime

In this video, I provide a method for washing a car without the assistance of a water hose. This washing regime consist of two buckets, one with soap and one with water and three wash mitts. One mitt for the top half of the car, one mitt for the bottom half of the car and one mitt to rinse with. I explain how the process is done, along with the products that you will need.

One thing that I didn't address was the wheels. They can be washed last, using another washing medium like a 4th mitt from Auto Zone. This washing regime is perfect for those of you who live in areas where washing with a hose is not allowed or not available. It also work great at a car show if you have to drive a long distance.

Have at it boys and girls! :tiphat:

Sounds good, will have to see this when i get home. I live in an apartment complex and sometimes have to rely on a spray detailer, bucket of clean water and 2 MF towels. This looks like a step up but in a good, easy way!

You're gonna like this way a lot better due to how safe it is for your paint. :)

Fortunate enough to live in a place where this isn't necessary, but it's always nice to have more Junkman wisdom to add to the arsenal.
And as for the people complaining the videos are too long, they can fast forward :wtf:

May be the answer for me even tho I don't have water/space restrictions.

Coin-op machine washes are usually better. I haven't watched the vid above (hoping to when I get home from work tonight), but I bet it's compatible with just bringing the same stuff to the coin-op car wash and using a wash bay there.

(As another apartment dweller, that's what I do. Having a Z, though, and not having much room for dirty buckets and all my towels, I stick to a one bucket wash.)

You definitely need to watch the video. You can do this wash WITHOUT the use of a DIY car wash bay. This wash can be done in a parking garage.

For those who want to see what the paint looked like after I finished, here you go.

Indeed! Actually thats where i wash my car(however, i do manage to work with 2 buckets... Who ever uses just 1 bucket to wash their car? :icon14:

Joking aside, i was actually looking into this method when i dont want to go to the coin op machine when i have just a bit of layer of ambient dirt on top of the Z. :tiphat:

Yup! Saw the vid. Definitely a safer method, simple too.

Definitely good vid. Even if I don't follow every step, there's no taking away of the message Junkman gives, and I totally point interested parties who are interested in car/paint care over to Junk's vids.

Love those pics! :)

"fake the funk" is my new phrase for the week!

I do want to say, I love when you mention near the end about the peacefulness of that technique. I tend to do my washing at the coin-op at the crack of dawn and I take my time both in the wash bay and after pulling out to finish up. Excellent way to relax in the morning and still be productive. It helps that my normal car wash isn't butted up against a busy road and actually has a vacant lot behind it and a bike/running path on the side. Everyone should try to find peace in the various things they do through the day; relax, be happy.

That's the secret to my giddy demeanor in my videos. I just avoid as much drama as I can and don't sweat the small stuff. Something as simple as washing a car can really settle your soul if you allow it too.

Love those saturday mornings before 7am.... So quiet and peaceful, very different to the monday-friday riot :shakes head:
