Sorry, I don't think you can blame the factory paint in this instance.

OP - take your car to a body shop or the dealer and get it fixed properly. You have a new car, let the professionals that know what they are doing fix it.

^it's on the bottom of the bumper... i'm not paying $300+ to have them repaint it for some scuffs in places where people won't really be looking at. i'm just using the bottom to see how well it matches with the seemingly hard-to-match pearl white (i've realized now) so that i can better touch up the minimal scuffs on the side of the front bumper. i just need it to be nearly perfect so that i can finally apply the opti-coat. originally, i trusted the dealer to give me a best match because i was a little skeptical on third party products. someone enlighten me.

and gurneyeagle, what variable(s) seem to be the culprit of the paint not matching properly?

on another note,
i'm not completely sold yet with dr. color chip results:

Review - Dr.Colorchip paint chip repair system on 2008 Lexus IS F.wmv - YouTube
Dr. ColorChip Review -red04montels - YouTube

however, judging from these videos... maybe it just requires more layers to have it blend with the surrounding paint more nicely? like put enough to have it slightly raised and then sand it down to even out everything? will paint layer lines show? thanks everyone =)

I would just go to paintscratch.com and order some matched paint in a spray can and rattle can it, trying to feather it in as best you can, then use some clearcoat to finish it up. It will look great and you won't notice is since it is so low on the bumper. Thats what I did on my previous car..

some scratches are deep. would you recommend some spot bondo to even out the surface first?? i don't have much experience with spray paint as i've just been using small blobs of base paint to fill up the scuff marks. and nothing is really into the original primer thank goodness.

So just leave it alone then if it's not that noticeable or in a noticeable position...?

I have a large scrape by my front bumper (due to my fault), decided not to repair it. Why? Not because I didn't have money, but because chances are, it'll probably happen again anyway. Oh and my car had exactly 200 miles when it happened.

I would also recommend Dr. Colorchip. Worked fine for me for other small scrapes/rock chips. I just had to let it sit for a good 10 minutes first.

If no one can notice and it only bothers you, you have two options as everyone keeps telling you.

Ignore it or pay the money like a grown up and have it professionally repaired. You have a '13 Z with sport package, that isn't a cheap car so dont cheap out now.

If it truly bothers you do the right thing and have a professional do it, you admitted you have no knowledge on the matter, if it was easy there wouldn't be auto painters making a career out of painting vehicles we would all be doing it ourselves.

Cutting corners and going cheap on paint or body work issues will always bite you in the ***. Either live with it or have a body shop respray it. Pearl white is a bastard to match.

The underside of my front bumper is destroyed. No point in fixing it because there are always going to be bumps that will scrape. And no one can see the underside unless they get down on their hands and knees. I know it sucks but life is too short to worry about that crap.
