Default Matte black wheel problems

My matte black wheels are 2 years old and I clean them about twice a week like crazy and when the sun hits them they still have a white milky haze to them at some angles. Mostly they look black and clean but sometimes I get depressed looking at them. Seems like they are aging.

Any suggestions for cleaning/ waxing/ restoring them?

id clean the crap out of them (i.e. clay bar, wash wax) then look into a clear coat for them and do a couple coats... that should seal them up and keep them going buttttt you might lose the matte aspect of it since the clear coat could give it a shine...

experienced wheel guys chip in?

that is a characteristic of some matte black powdercoats. Thats why I use a satin black instead.

Wheels aren't powdercoated they are matte from the factory. They look amazing most of the time but in direct sunlight and certain angles they have a tendency to look hazy/ milky/ etc. can I clear them myself with a rattle can?

I wouldn't. I would take them to a powdercoater and get a matte clear. Ask w0ady who did the wheels on his G37. They are local to you and did a good job.

I use to have the black rock stars on my old car and I had the same problem. Matte paint seems to have alot more texture to it and I couldn't figure out why these white spots wouldn't go away. Long story short it had to be soap scum I suppose from not properly rinsing or washing in the 105+ heat in TX either way clay bar and then I used the rim cleaner by power ball or whatever the little foam ball that you stick on a drill.. Good luck let me know what happens

Speed.... It's moves us all

You can look into buying a can of plasti-dip. But not the standard "matte black".

I am talking about either their "Glossifier" or the Clear Matte.

They have a video on youtube of them putting 5 coats of a clear matte on a mercedes. Looks really cool for a $50 mod haha. But thats a whole car. You'd need 1 can.

Most matte black powdercoated are not uv stable, that's the real problem
