a few things I've learned lately:

Don't use circular motions when washing or waxing. Do a straight back and forth, on large panels go in the direction the wind will be flowing over the car when driving.

When washing, only one or two passes is needed to get most dirt off of that section, don't keep going over it.

Use the two bucket method. Rinse in one (with a dirt catcher in the bottom of the butcket) and soap in the other.

When waxing, use a DA with a nice finishing pad and be gentle.

what huck said. Move with the shape of the panel but before you attack it with a mitt get all the dirt you can off with a pressure washer and rinse your mitt off after every panel.
Dont press hard, just use the weight of the mitt for pressure and kinda drag i around.
Failing that, touchless technique. (i have black and it will never see a mitt due to it will swirl)
Soak it in a pre wash foam first to help everything moving off then blast it with a pressure washer.

Black is rough. I LOVE black cars, but it's the worst for maintenance. The paint is so thin, if I look at it wrong, it chip. A lot of waxes leave visible oil swirls and doubles my time cleaning because I have to take a water bottle to it and some clean cloths.
