Hard Water Spots HELP!
Hi, I have hard water spots that will not come off with soapy water, quick detail, or compound. They are all over my Intercooler piping. I do not want to damage the shine of the piping or make a bunch of swirl marks on it.
Any ideas of what else I can try/use that will remove the spots and shine the piping without damaging it? I have never had this problem in the past I cant figure out why it is being so difficult. Thanks!

Have you tried taking a clay bar to it? If it's that important to you it might be worth a try.

Oh and as usual, use some detailing spray or soapy water with the clay bar.

Household vinegar (dilute acetic acid) may do the trick. I've heard that Coca-Cola (dilute phosphoric acid) will remove water spots, but haven't tried it. Just about any weak acid should remove water spots. Try in a non-visible spot first.

Well I have tried everything, I have no hope, and im pulling my hair out! I have tried eveything mentioned here. The pipes are smooth as a babies butt, and shined up awesome, BUT there are still spots everywhere that you can see up close! It looks like the pipes got etched or something or it is baked into them. Im calling a few detailers when I wake up later today to see if they can do anything.

Maybe put more water spots on the pipes and eventually it will all look even?

Even if it doesn't fit the piping (if this doesn't I don't know what will), it also works great on any other metal surface. I use it on my exhaust and it works better than any other metal polish.
Let us know how it goes |

Metal polish and a ball polisher you attach to a drill. I bought a used set of G3's that had all sorts of water spots on it and it polished right up. It takes time, but it does work.

I started thinking I might need some high speed. Me trying to fit my hands in all the tight spots doing wax on wax off motion wasnt cutting it. Like I said they are real bright now, but you can still see the spots up close.
Once I try the ball polisher with the above polish I will get back to you guys thanks again I have repd you.

hit it with 600 grit sandpaper followed by 1000 grit and then some good metal polish. I polished my gsxr rims to a mirror with this method.
