Paint Correction - Pearl White Nismo 370Z

Bought my car new about a month ago, a 2012 Pearl White Nismo.

Car was brand new but had been on the dealership lot for about 5 months. During my first wash I could tell the paint was very dirty and contaminated. I tried claying it myself, but after 20 minutes I only had about 1/4 of the hood done. I quickly realized that I do not have the patience (or time) to do the whole car myself.

I called my brother-in-law who paints cars for a living and he said he would help me out. We did a 3 stage paint correction and the results were outstanding!

Sorry the pictures are not great, it was taken with my phone.

I started with a full wash and dry and then taped off all the areas I didn't want wax on.

1st Stage: Removed all the dirt and contamination off the paint with a light buffing compound. This left the car baby smooth.

2nd Stage: Full polish with a foam pad and polishing liquid.

Removed the tape and then a full wash and dry.

3rd Stage: Hand wax with Turtle Wax Ice.

I was surprised that after using professional compounds and polishing liquids (each costs over $300 per bottle) that he told me to go buy a tub of Turtle Wax. He said that's what he recommends for the best shine on the final coat.

Who am I to argue when the results were awesome?

My BIL brought them with him from his shop. They were in generic bottles so I didn't see a name. After he mentioned they cost $300 per gallon EACH, I didn't bother asking more questions. :-) (If you really want to know I can find out)

But the Turtle Wax was only $16.
