Default Dr. Colorchip - PW Paint?

Hey,

Saw a few hits on this here and there but wanted more info. Has anyone used this on PW paint? how does it blend with the rest? Ive read that there is no pearl in it so it makes me nervous but wanted some feedback from this forum. I have a few small chips on my front bumper and a decent one on my hood i just found...

I have it in black and the kit is really nice and worth the coin. Would assume the results in white are similar.

I have used it here is my review.

Dr. Colorchip repair - Pearl White

If they are deep I would take a look at Applied Colors Scratch Repair kit. I have never used them but when researching possible solutions they popped up. Applied Colors incorporates 3M Putty into their kit to fill in the blemish (scratch/chip) and then adds the paint on top. I am sure you could just pick up some 3M putty to use with the Dr. Colorchip kit and have the same solution. I am more intersted if someone does try the Applied Colors kit if the touch up paint has pearl in it or not.

Good luck on getting your ride fixed!

Hey, thanks. Do you think you could layer the Dr. Colorchip? I dont know if I want to fill in spots with putty...

So, how did the paint blend? Dr. Colorchip doesnt have any pearl in it, correct?

Yes you can layer it. If it is deep as my chip it would take 2 or possibly 3 coats to make it flush eliminating the dimple.

There is no pearl in the Dr. Colorchip paint. All you get is the base coat. It blends well enough to hide small chips. Only person that will notice it is of course you cuz you know its there. Also of course when you wash and polish it you will notice it. However to the casual observer they will not see it unless they are staring at the front bumper for a while to detect any blemishes.

Gotcha. Why do you say that when I wash and polish it I will notice? Due to no clearcoat?

But what you said is how i figured it would be. The chip is somewhat hard to notice as it is but of course I notice it! ha

I say that because not only do you know where the blemish is but you will be up close and rubbing on the affected area. Also when that close you will notice that there is no pearl. From a few feet away it blends fine but up that close of course you can tell.

I have a PW Z too, and I ordered Dr colorchip to fix a few small chips. It turned out great. Note that for PW it doesnt match 100%, but its close enough, I have to look really hard to find the chipped spots.

Oh, and I suggest just get the smallest kit. It goes a loooooong way

How large are we talking? As long as you have enough paint in the bottle it will cover it. However when you start getting into bigger chips than the normal road rash it is going to become even more noticeable that it was touched up.
