What's wrong with wiping it off? Maybe I'm not getting something.

I would definitely wipe it off with some liquid, not a dry cloth

I have "Invisible Glass" cleaner with me always, obviously not for paint but the times I got shat on, I sprayed that before wiping, it broke up the poop nicely

Any Detail spray works awesome! I keep a few micro fibre cloths rolled in the storage behind the passenger seat with the travel size bottle of detail spray
I got from Adams. I have that as well as a full gallon..........I also have another full size spray bottle of it I keep with my detail supplies.

Just like the Franks Red Hot Sauce commercials, "I put that sh!t on everything!"

For starters it won't get the acidic properties off the paint so it can still eat the finish and on top of that it could put some nasty scratches in the paint... both from the properties of the bird sh*t itself and a dry cloth against anything less than pristine paint.

Better to let it sit for a few hours and re-wash the car than to wipe it off with a dry cloth.
