Sorry to hear that man. But birds love to pick on black cars compare to others. It's almost like GPS guided. My friends liked to park their cars next to mine to avoid bird sh*t when I had a black car...

you also forgot to mention that they like freshly washed cars as well, I had one sh1t on mine after I washed it and I didnt even make it around the block of my house yet......

I hear you man, bird sh1t is a pain in the a55 and causes permanent damage. I've also had bad experiences.

Nismo89 07-01-2012 12:53 AM

this is precisely why i have a car cover that i cover my car with when im out places. to avoid straight bird Sh*t on it, may take a little longer than just getting out of the car and locking it, but in the end its well worth it.

When I hear wipe, my detailing experience equates wiping to a microfiber cloth and some kind of detailing spray. Not actually just wiping it off.

Z11, I know exactly how u feel as I have a Black GTI. I've never just wiped off bird poop off unless it it just happened and have always washed or used detail spray to get it off, but it still leaves that shadow. And it will still leave that shadow, even if you polished the car the week before. Now someone else may never notice it even if looking for it, but I do.

I thoroughly wash my car and then use a small piece of clay bar on the affected area, then re-polish the affected area. Works good for me.

 Exactly :iagree: 100% this is the bare minimum if you can't wash/don't have time and are out doing errands. Hence keeping the travel size bottle of spray and a couple micro fibre towels in the glove box or rear storage. Last thing you want to do is scratch and damage it more!

I feel for the OP. Last week I parked overnight next to a duck pond. I nearly had a white Z. I washed it and no problems.

Z11 07-01-2012 08:04 PM

i used a wet cloth, i made sure the poo got moist, then removed it, but the shadow is there, it looks less visible or maybe its because my car is dusty? i wash my car every week and the very next day theres always dust all over.. but ill try the detailing stuff and the polish.

thanks for the feedback fellaz and the funny ones.

thread is over, no need to add more comments

I keep quick detailer and a cloth, when i see bird crap i spray it heavily and wipe it off. Not many other options, cant suck it off can you?

Hose/soap? It's not rock salt and diet coke. The car will last a few hours without damage. I'd rather do it the long/safe way.

LMBmikeZ 07-02-2012 09:31 AM

:ugh2: both ways work, just make sure that sh!t comes off within 24 hours or you will have even more work to do(polishing) to get the marks out.

elmz 07-02-2012 10:08 AM

Awww...the woes of owning a black car. My last Z was black, and I told myself, never again. If you don't clean bird poop within a few hours, it burns the clear coat and it will never be the same. You can buff it out and make it less noticeable, but you know you will always see it :rofl2: I always kept a microfiber cloth in the glove box for this reason.
