I did mine pretty hastily in about 30 minutes; the car was already thoroughly cleaned & waxed the week before and got another wash just before the clay bar which I did with the car wet. I'd say give yourself an hour to be thorough; maybe longer if you have lots of bumps and stuff all over the place. Even though I did the entire car, most of the rough stuff was on the front end of the car only.

i highly recommend against meguair's soft blue clay. it is pretty coarse and will scratch your finish. i speak from experience. it's soft in the beginning but then coarses up for some reason as you knead it. this is the only clay that i had this problem. i use it for glass these days if i have water spots.
for the z's paint i use griot's yellow clay (mud). it's super soft. use disposable gloves. |
