Default What do you use to clean the motor and engine bay?

I went through the search engine a bunch of different ways but didn't find anything on this.

I used some Gunk to clean the engine and it left some light spots or discoloring on some of the rubber.

I didn't have it on the there for more than a couple of minutes.

Anyone have a good product to use that won't mess up paint or discolor rubber?

Thanks.
