Lens Restoration
Hi Guys,
My Z's hazy headlights were killing me, hated the way they looked so I took to restoring them. Worst one was the passenger's side... I had an Infiniti G35 and did the same thing to the lenses. I used a kit called "BG Lenz Saver", for both the G and the Z...the pics speak for themselves!! Hope you guys enjoy and maybe this can be a solution for anyone who just can't stand the sight of hazy lenses! Anyone else have or had this issue w/ their Z? I am having this issue with my headlight lenses as well. I believe the root cause is overspray from the detailing solution that I use. The first thing that I tried was Meguier's headlight cleaning, but with limited sucess. Now that spring has arrived I will be using something a little more aggressive and that is the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit which is a series of sand paper and a polish. It will freak me out at first "frosting" the lens, but I have read that this method works great. I will post some before and after pictures after I am done this weekend. Thanks for posting.

the hell... my G35C is 8yrs old (i am the sole owner) and the lens is clear... wat are you using to damage the lens in the first place? i would start there.
good job on the polishing though. |

You can polish the haze off but will come back if not clear coated (wax can delay it but not for long). Using clear is a must but not as simple as spraying on good quality spray clear coat. Wet sanding is necessary to remove imperfections. The light will enhance any imperfections that naturally occur no matter how good a spray painter you are. It is a lot of work but worth it if you are picky about your car. I also recommend covering the entire car not just the hood and fenders. Low mil. plastic is cheap.
