So I need to polish out the Z. I really shouldn't have to, but the dealer is so stupid it's now required. When it says 'DO NOT DO ANYTHING BUT REMOVE PLASTIC' on the contract, I guess that also means let your lot monkey wash it and swirl the hell out of it. If it wasn't a special order that took 5 months, I would have just refused it and got a different one. It's that bad.
Anyway... I've always used LC 6" pads (trying the new CCS pads - not sure if I like them yet). But the Z has so many abrupt curves I feel like I'm on the edge a lot with them. Anyone polish with a 3"? I've done probably hundreds of cars and never felt the need for a 3", but it's just damn impossible to keep the pad off the edge with the 6" on the Z. Doors / hood / roof I think I'm ok with the 6", but fenders and backside worries me. Is there a backing plate for a 3" for a PC? Guess I've never even looked for one. Or I've thought about picking up the little Griot's 3". BTW-It's going to take Poorboys SSR2.5 on an orange pad to fix it - it's that bad. I'll follow up with SSR1 and a few coats of Z5 Pro. Here's my Ridgeline after polishing with 2.5 and then 1. No LSP yet. ![]() |
