Pitted Windshield
soooo..... my windshield looks to be pitted from hwy driving. There are 100s of smalll pits. I think theyre pits since theyre reflective. This doesnt bother me unless the sun is glaring through the windshield. Which is usually on the way to and from work!
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a fix for this? I want to get the Adams glass polish and cleaner but not before i fix this issue. |

when you do get a new windshield look into getting @clearplex@ installed on it. it is like a 3M film for the windshield. I have it on my G and FX. It hols up for about 2-3 years before needing to be replaced. I live in alberta and the rocks on the hiways in winter is unbelievable.. It has saved my windshield meny times. I still got one rock pick but the rock that hit my windshield was the size of my fist. If i did not have clearplex it would have distroyed my windshield if not come completly through it. It only left a small rock @star@ and you are able to do the same rock chip repaires with the clearplex on as with a normal wind screen.

Only solution that I have found to be effective, never live to the west of where you work...

I would talk to a pro (ie: glass shop) to see if there is a fix or not.

Zaino makes a glass polish that is somewhat effective when applied with a buffer. It won't take them out 100% but it does seem to at least knock down the sharp edges making them less noticeable. Pretty much the same concept as polishing paint. They claim you can use it by hand but I've never had any results that way - always took a RO with a pretty aggressive pad.
My Mercedes was real bad about pitting, but fortunately soft enough that it had to be replaced every couple of years after getting cracked. The Zaino glass polish worked in between replacements. |
