haters scratches
well we all know there are people out there that cant handle when someone else has something nice and they need to make their mark. Had my car parked in a lot today and walked out to an obvious scratch caused by some hater. I can tell based on the depth of the scratch and placement it was done on purpose and not just you typical door knick.
anyway, I think I screwed it up a little further by trying to rub some of the paint off. Its about the length of a quarter and I think its down to metal. How do you guys repair your scratches etc? I'm looking at this Colors but not sure if its the right color they call it blue pearl not monterey blue?

in my case i pull out my 3" random orbital and some mild polish to minimize the scratch appearance. obviously if your nail catches the scratch you wont be able to take it out completely..but chances are you can make it almost dissappear with the right amount of polishing and some sealant/wax after.
like non-edible birds, haters need to be removed from the planet. |

Masking tape, touchup paint(that supper little bottle from dealer), toothpick, 1500grit, Maguires#6 & Maguires#9.
Tape around the scratch so the scratch and about 1/32 of paint is showing. Wipe it down with laquer thinner (this is a quick wipe, don't rub it more than a 1 or 2 seconds), be carefull not to get it anywhere else as it will melt your paint. Use the tip of a toothpick with your touchup paint to fill the scratch, remove tape immediately. You can touch it with the heat gun to pop any bubbles you see. Just lightly, don't burn/bubble the surrounding paint! Allow to dry for a couple of days. Retape the surrounding area again. Lightly sand with 1500 tape protecting the surround finish, just to smooth the surface and blend with surrounding paint. Block it if it's a curved section and you can get to it with the tape in place. Use your fingertip if the block won't work. Objective is to sand the touchup paint only. Make sure you use the tape around it or I garrantee you you'll sand more than you want. Polish with Maguires#6 with tape on so you don't polish through your clearcoat. Remove tape and give it a final with Maguires#9. Only thing you should see is maybe a couple of airbubbles from the none-standard form of applying the paint. Don't use the brush that comes with the paint, it'll look like $#it. Last edited by B&W_Evader; 10-24-2011 at 11:22 AM. |

F-er was standing over my car in the parking lot at work the other day, balancing on the concrete wheel-stop thing, smoking a cigarette and flicking the ashes on my hood. WTF man! Haven't washed it in that spot yet but I'm going to be hella PO-ed if there's a burn mark in my hood.
