Wash with water only?

I just had my car detailed. Full on clay bar, polish, etc. It looks great. My detail guys says "No more soap. Ever. Wash it with water only." Really?

Listen, soap acts as a lubricating agent to help remove dust and grime. Water will get most of it off, but you run the risk of marring your paint by not using soap.

Nuff said.

Edit: Just noticed my omission of the word NOT!

a quality car shampoo (mild) will cause little degrading to your wax or sealant... just don't use dish soap or anything harsh that would strip off that finish.

But yeah like we all already said that idea is just stupid.

WOW... and this guy called himself a 'professional detailer'??

In a way I guess it makes sense, wash without water, screw your paint up and you'll be calling him back for more work on a monthly basis... quite the scheme he has going there! LOL

I guess if the car wasn't that dirty and you had super soft water it might work, but I wouldn't touch the paint with anything like a sponge. Still won't get it very clean though. Just get the Optimum No Rinse and get busy, that's the easiest stuff I've ever used. The whole car is polish-clean in 45 minutes.
