since you have a PC i'd use a soft polishing foam pad (not cotton not MF).

MF and cotton towels absorb the polish too much. you already know this, but you want the polish to be at the surface working against your finish to get the abrasives to diminish. which means foam will work best as it keeps product at the surface.

it will take many applications before you can get the results you want. want to watch out for heat. so not too much pressure.

sealants and waxes will stick to clearbra and should be taken care like the rest of your paint.


for my minor scuffs i had on clearbra i used glaze and sealed it afterwards. when it was getting obviously cloudy i just removed the clearbra and reapplied.

LOL, no problem. It was early when I typed that and didnt go back to re-read it. Guess it came out a little wrong. Good advice on the polishing above. I do not know much about detailing ... and I am sure there are better ways to get scuffs out. I just go with what I have done in the past. Sometimes though it doesnt matter what you try it wont come out. But at least its the bra and not the paint.

I just finished working on the car. I used Plastic X 2.0 to polish the marks on the bra. You can still see them, but they are much reduced. While I was at it, I polished the rest of the car and applied Regex to both the paint and bra. It started to rain while I was putting on the Regex, so back inside the poorly lit garage to finish the job.

Adam has some amazing detailing videos. I watched his polishing and sealing videos. They saved me a lot of work! The Porter Cable polisher did a great job of not only polishing, but applying the Regex and then wiping it off. I am truly an Adam fan now! While it is still a lot of work, the job is easily 1/3 the effort than when I did the Regex by hand.

The only problem is that the polishing foam pad I used to apply the Regex absorbed quite a bit and I can't get it all out. Washing doesn't help at all. So I guess that I have to expect to toss a pad after applying Regex.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Z looks much more beautiful now. Owning a black car really is a lot more work!

I have the Ultra VentureShield and had the same scuffing when cleaning something off it. I simply use Megquires cleaner /wax, the 2 in one stuff. It will not scuff the clear bra as an abrasive would. Then I use Meguires Ultra detailer spray to even out the wax effect for a small area. Trust me, this works for even what seems like tiny nicks on the other sections of the car

Sounds like it is easier to keep care of the paint than the bra.

Seems that way for me too. I am not very happy that the scuffs are still detectable, but much muted. The paint is much easier in that respect, but the bra is protecting the paint. Which is cheaper to correct maybe. It cost me $500 to replace the bra on the front bumper. I am not sure how that compares to a repaint.

The bra is not difficult to maintain if you use a good sealant on it. It will minimize scuffs and prevent staining or etching in the film. The key is to keep it on there and re-apply as needed... before the issue occurs. I give all of my clients a bottle of sealant with the install so that it can be properly maintained.

By the way as soon as you repaint your car you just lost a lot in depreciation as the next owner does not know what the extent of the damage was that caused the respray. You also have to worry about matching the color properly which is not easy with some colors these days.

Opti-seal or coat does not offer you protection from rock chips. Only a mask or clear bra will do that.

I will put up with some minor scuffs rather than deal with a ton of chips and globs of touch up paint or having to have resprays done.

If you are asking if Opti-seal is a good product for clear bras I am not sure. I have never used it and so I do not know anything about it. I will look into it though and see what is in it. Off the top of my head I do not beleive you need to go with anything like that. Zaino or a good polymer sealant should work fine.

I have used Zaino quite a bit. It doesn't resist scratching what so ever. In fact it doesn't even resist bug guts at all. It just looks amazingly good.

My goal is to get away from products that need to be rubbed off. I am Starting to like products that you wipe on and minor removal. Thats why I suggested Opti-Seal just because of how easy it is.

I will give it a try my self and see if I end up scratching my clear bra.
