Found very old bottle of Meguiars NXT Tech Wax and Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, Questions?
So I found a very old bottle of Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax and another old bottle of Meguiar's Cleaner wax, the one in the burgundy bottle. Both these are easily 5+ yrs old. Is there a shelf life on these products? Also, are these products both all in one products meaning they serve both as a polish and a wax? Or are they just basically considered sealant waxes?

I don't think the cleaner wax is any sort of "sealant wax" i'm not to sure about the NXT... it sounds like a fancy name for sealant... or perhaps a mild wax with a sealant in it.
5 years? Hmmmm, have you opened it? If it's separated then it might not be any good. Why not just through it out and buy some new stuff though? |
NXT is a synthetic polymer wax. The Cleaner Wax has some slight polishing ability for very fine scratches. I agree with Method, throw it out.

All detailing chemicals have a shelf life, it varies, but generally around the 2-3 year mark, if undisturbed they will separate out and be no good.
How/where they were stored also plays a big role, waxes, polishes, and cleaners are all highly susceptible to temperature changes if they get outside of the 40*-90* range. For what the product you list cost at the local parts store it hardly seems worth even trying to salvage them. I could understand if they were some primo stuff that you spent a lot of money on, but you can replace that on the cheap so why risk it? |
