Going to purchase an electric leaf blower

I plan on purchasing an electric leaf blower to dry the cars with after we are done washing. I looked at Home Depot today and saw a big price range $35-$105. Some were rechargeable and others were not.

If anyone has input as to a particular model to get or not to get, I would appreciate it. Do the cordless models have enough power?

Thanks!

I personally have no idea, but i'd like to get one myself. I saw a few at my local Sears, but I didn't know which one to get either. I suppose you want one that has a high mph wind but not sure.

I've got a Toro Ultra. Pretty cheap, say, $60. Works great, going on a couple years with no probs.

Definitely go with an electric. The battery rechargeable ones just aren't powerful enough. You don't need anything special, just a middle of the road.

Before make sure to wet the area around where the car is parked so you don't accidentally blow any debris at the car.

Works great and is a real time saver.

I used a Black&Decker corded electric from Fleet Farm for $30. It advertises 160 mph air movement and I believe it. It's a little cumbersome to use...enough so that I finally replaced it with a Metro AirForce dryer. THAT was expensive, but is easier to use, and actually blows warm air and dries the care faster with less chance of dinging it up.

my roomate has this little electric helicopter that flies around... it puts out a nice breeze :-)

Definitely the way to go! The Air Force Master Blaster is the baller's way to go. IT AIN'T CHEAP, but it is more than worth the money (and you can save a bit by using my discount code). I couldn't justify the cost until I actually used it. Now I use my leaf blower to actually blow leaves. If you still decide to get a electric leaf blower and you spend more than $30, you've spent too much.

Battery powered ones are a joke. Don't waste your money.

The only problem is that a gas blower spews exhaust. That exhaust eventually lands all over your car. That's why gas powered blowers are not recommended.

Update

We ended up purchasing this from Walmart yesterday:
Walmart.com: Weed Eater 7.5 Amp Electric Blower: Lawn & Garden Care

I plugged it in last night and it has really good power. We will try it out on the cars this weekend.

Thanks for the input:)

That's the same exact one I use to use.

ive been using my shopvac in blower mode. imho, better option as you dont need to have 2 tools to vac and blow water off the car prior to blot drying. :)

In that case, the Metro Vac and Blow would be a better option. However, those units only put out half that of the Master Blaster.

I thought the shop vacs always blew a little bit of dust out

kenchan 07-06-2011 03:19 PM

hummm... not that i noticed. even if a little bit of air comes from the bucket it is filtered cause there is a cone shaped filter on mine. it's a generic sears shop vac 5.5 gal or something small. plenty of power.
